I think it’s time for a life update, friends. Because life has certainly been a whirlwind lately. Subsequently life has also been busy lately and I haven’t had much time to think about developing new recipes. Hence, you get a life post update today.
Oh, and I am seeking some advice when it comes to a leg injury as well! Let me back up a bit…
About two weeks ago, Jessica and I did our first Warrior Dash race together. It. Was. AWESOME. Definitely one of the most physically challenging things I’ve ever done but that just makes getting to the finish line even more gratifying.
I was bruised up and sore after the race for a couple of days, but I didn’t really notice any severe pain until about five days after the race. My right knee has been extremely sore, somewhat stiff, and hard to bend inwards and upwards. I can’t run on it, I can’t even really walk fast. I can still bend and straighten my knee, stand on it for long periods of time, and there has been no noticeable swelling or redness.
I’m asking you all for your input. Maybe just a minor meniscus tear? Maybe just a badly bruised up knee that’s taking a while to heal? It is just frustrating at this point because I can’t do my normal exercises with any major knee movement and I miss being able to walk fast. Any thoughts are welcome, friends.
The other weird thing is my leg has started to feel better during the day, but the past couple of nights it has hurt like hell in the middle of the night. So much so that it wakes me up, I toss and turn in pain, and I can’t fall back asleep. What is going on?!
Other than a knee injury life has been good! Austin is a city I don’t think one could every become bored with because there are always multiple events of all sorts going on. Free things, movies showing, music shows, comedy shows, art festivals, hippie festivals, you name it!
Wade and I attended the 88th Zilker Park kite festival a while back and I saw more kites in one place than I could have ever imagined.
SXSW started in Austin last weekend. President Obama even showed up last Friday to speak at one SXSW event and attend a couple others. I was proud of his choice in food when he was in town. You can’t go wrong with Torchy’s Tacos.
Also can’t help but love the irony of him getting tacos called The Republican, The Democrat, and The Independent. I mean…

Speaking of SXSW we did a walking tour downtown hosted by A Taste of Koko and Visit Austin, TX last weekend. Clearly I didn’t judge my knee capabilities and after walking downtown for two hours my knee felt like it had just been beat with a hammer. I learned my lesson there. But we did score some amazing photos on our walking tour so I say it was worth it!
Austin is a fun place.
